The 360 Degree Visibility Pedal Lights are the unique battery-free pedal lights for bicycles that have been designed to make cyclists more visible to motorists day and night from any angle including the side and the Pedalite toe clips complement to Pedalite Pedal lights. The Pedalite high quality promotional cycle jerseys are also available due to popular demand and requests from cyclists. Additional exciting products are scheduled for launch in the Summer of 2008.
Pedalite History
Pedalite was originally conceived in 1998 following a near-miss accident in Kingston-upon-Thames (a district in the West of London, UK) involving a bike cycling without lights. On a dark, rainy night and Chris Stimpson drove to a local pub to meet with friends. At a road junction he had to swerve suddenly to avoid a collision with a cyclist that had no lights on his bike, had been virtually invisible and appeared to “come from nowhere”. The near miss was later discussed amongst the group of friends and an engineer and inventor with a number of patents already to his name, Richard Hicks, agreed that something was needed that would be the third great lighting essential on a bike (along with front and rear lamps). It would require no maintenance. It would flash and keep flashing without the need for batteries and, unlike a dynamo, it wouldn’t fade when you stopped pedalling. In other words, if you got on your bike, you had lights that were on all the time and couldn't be turned off. This was the original "blueprint" for Peda

Tony Doyle MBE, twice World Pursuit Champion, four times European Track Champion and safety campaigner for cycling became an ambassador and spokesperson for Pedalite International Ltd in 2007. Tony promotes Pedalite products at exhibitions, cycling shows and through cycling clubs, retail outlets and in schools throughout the UK, highlighting the part they play in cycling safety. As spokesperson, Tony also plays a key role in helping explain, through the media, the importance to cyclists of using Pedalite Pedals.
February 2008 saw the formal launch of the Pedalite SHE Campaign which is an awareness campaign run by Pedalite International to raise the publics awareness of the challenges and benefits of cycling and the importance of being seen from the side by other road users when you are cycling. All of Pedalite's products all adhere to three principles; they address issues of safety, health and the environment (SHE). Chris Stimpson
Richard Hicks
A 30 year career in IT starting with IBM in the early 70s and culminating with the role of VP Director of the Citibank Y2K program for 52 countries and 40,000 PCs. His key strengths are in project management, financial planning and in building a team to create the Pedalite products we have today.
Technical Director - A design engineer specialising in plastics and polymers with many patents to his name. Richard has responsibility for all aspects of the technical design and performance of Pedalite products.
Simon Theobald
Ian Leeper
A highly experienced senior executive, Simon has developed unique industry and management skills gained in business and IT over the last 25 years. His experience ranges from being integral in the implementation of the first payment card systems in the UK to successfully leading as Chief Executive Officer, a multi-million pound public (NASDAQ) software company.
Prior to founding banking software company GFS in 1991, Ian was Managing Director of the European subsidiary of Management Technologies Inc. (“MTI”). Before joining MTI, Ian spent two years with Willis Faber, a leading global risk management firm, and seven years with IBM.
John Eve
The Team
Extensive sales & marketing experience in print and publishing have defined a successful career that was complemented by John's enthusiasm for cycling. At Pedalite John combines these two areas to help implement Pedalite's go to market model.
Other members of the Pedalite team include designers, engineers, marketing, IT, accounts, administration and project management. Each and every member of the full Pedalite team add value and brings there unique experience to complement the executive team.
Richard Gamble, Advisor
Kevin Witheford, Advisor
Richard has 20 years engineering experience in plastic and polymer moulding and design production. Richard has provided Pedalite with aerospace-approved facilities for the tooling, design, manufacture and assembly of the Pedalite product.
Brings over 25 years experience to the Board in an engineering and sales capacity. Kevin is an entrepreneur who has successfully built up and sold his own specialist engineering company.
